The pots code read 78XXX, so I would go for 1978...

Edit: And 78 appears in the serial number too...

137 means CTS, 88 means 1988, 17 is the 17th week...

sevinisthenumber - can you confirm the transistor and diode part references. I guess they will be C1849.

Also - assume this unit pops when swithced on and off - my clone, which uses similar part values, certainly does.

In my clone I used my old RCA ic once removed from a script logo MXR and it sounds good.

But I also built a Ross clone with an opamp CA3080 and it sounds just as good , I mean to say that there's not a great difference.
