MXR - Dime Distortion

Hi there,
I once had this pedal, didn't really like its sound and sold it. Before I did, I opened it up and after getting the PCB out of the Box, I realized, it was fully packed with tiny SMDs. I shot some pictures (not very sharp) and reassembled everything.
Is there any possibility to trace the circuitry? Or does anyone one this pedal and has traced it? The biggest problems are the capacitors as they are naturally unmarked...
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Hannes

I'm reading stuff about TS808 elsewhere, but let's have the pics. Yeah, close ups is an art, maybe... Be sure to use enough natural light, use close up feature on digital camera if you have it. Put the camera on a steady surface or tripood.
smd surprises me

Nice...
Basically the front end of a metalzone + three SVF ?

Nikifena, thanks for posting the schematic.
However, it appears to be a factory schematic, and thus is the intellectual property of Dunlop. And while we might be dirty, godless pedal pirates, we do respect
LEGITIMATE claims to copyright ownership. An original schematic definitely falls into that category. So I have removed it from your post.
I'll see about getting it redrawn as an original work of art so it can be posted for all.
Sorry if this seems heavy-handed, but I'm just being prudent.
(we had a similar issue with some EHX factor schematics a while back)

Also, I just moved this from the Boutique section to Modern Stompboxes. It's more appropriate here.

Someone tried this schematics and build one?

You Bet!
the schematics are OK!
I have done a couple of layouts myself!

Any interest in sharing or selling a layout?

I can share my layouts FOR FREE, but they have a little problems with the components grid (i was using eagle with gauss markov lybraries) so in the moment i'm redone all my layouts with new lybraries.
Originally my Dime pedal layout was with 14,5 cm x 9 cm or something like that... in the re-layouting it's become bigger, so i'll cut in two pieces (1 for the pots and some components and 2 for tyhe rest) to fit in some nice box.

Thanks to Lobo for the layout.
A friend of mine asked me for this build so I want to try it. I am redrawing it in Eagle for PCB (If someone already did it, we all appreciate a share

). Some questions on the layout:
* What's VCC1 for? I see a cap for regulating it, but I don't see it attached anywhere
* I am following the circuit well until I reach the point labeled EQ. If I am not mistaken, there are 5 of them. The part I don't get is that there are 2 of those points on the lower half of the circuit, 2 connected to the 4016 switch, and one is coming from the Bass section (assuming it from the pot labeling). The IC5B is connected in open loop, so is that some sort of comparator? What is the purpose of the switching? (I know there is a DPDT labeled scoopA). So if SCOOPA is on to VCC, pins 11 and 10 on the 4016 are connected together (like an SPST switch ), so this would connect the points EQ from below by a 6.8K resistor (R30) and will have the output of IC5B and also from IC4B mixed in through R28 and R29. If SCOOPA is off, then EQ gets the mixed IC4B/IC5B through the same R28-R30 in series.
How does this scoop works?
Thanks for all again

By the way the ICs are Mc33178 and MC33179.
I have so many problems with the gauss markov libraries an grids os components that I give up re-drawing my layouts
My own layouts do not work because of this especific fact.
So to the people that want my own layouts i've got to say: I'm sorry, for the moment i cannot share until i fix it (and it will be take a while...)
A friend of mine did make a functional layout for the original schematics. So there is no issues with the schematic. It's verified

i garantee.
Mr. RVargas:
1: If you take a closer look at the top os the schem you will see a 18v power jack -- the VCC and VCC! comes from there, spliting the power to the necessities of the components.
2 the labels named EQ are indeed a single net , it must be all conected as one . I just split the schematic in two(3 if you count the power section) to avoid confusion (avoid too many wires crossing each other). Thast the same issue with VCC, VD, Scoop etc the are jus split to make a less confusing schematic .
I'll call for patience till i solve those issues.
best regards

Hello there.. i know that nobody can't post original schematics.. but maybe someone can post a link to download it?
or maybe a clue to find it on the internet

What's wrong with the schematic attachment in the 7th post?

Hi everyone!!!
I'm new to the forum, so I probably don't know how these things works.
The posted schematics at the 7th post are modified from the original? I don't understand this fact: if I assembly this schematic I'll obtain a pedal with the same sound of MXR Dime OR a pedal with a very similar sound but not the same?
Sorry for the question, I just want to understand this, I also hope that my english is clear for everyone
Thank you all guys for your amazing work!!!!
