Here you can buy a Fender Tweed deluxe from 1951 for only $5.229,--.

Maybe I should start to build exact replicas for only $2,614,50 ???

A guy that I bought my amp from three years ago has stopped working on other than his own stuff and has a somewhat later Tweed Deluxe 5E3? chassis and enough suiting parts (not all original; no cabinet or speaker) he is willing to let go because he bought one exactly like this to work on.

I was looking into a Champ for small amp project, but cannot let this one pass I think... Just found out yesterday so still waiting on the details.

I gotta say, that's one pretty amp.

Modman I'm curious how that deal of yours turns out. I bought a very noncollectable 1976 Bassman head for $60US nearly twenty years ago. Frankly, that's a good amp for me since I'm not concerned about taking it out of the house.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I would guess a collector bought it. It is in very nice shape for an amp that old. But that price is ridiculous. I'd be afraid to power it up.

It would be a cool amp to have if I were a collector, but I wouldn't purchase something like that to use regularly.
I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't even sound that great, even if the caps are still good. I mean... it has a metal pentode input stage - I bet that's microphonic and noisy as all hell. I don't know about this particular model being something to go crazy over tone-wise. The 5E3 is the one to have if you're looking for a hot sound - this 5A3 looks like more of a collector's item than anything else. The age and cabinet style are probably more important than it's sound.

Vintage Fender Amp prices are insane!
When I think back to some of the BF Fenders I owned that I didn't even need about 20 years ago and the prices today......well.....
