I own this pedal: Vox Duel Overdrive.
Image

I like this pedal so much, i would like to replicate it. I opened it up once and it is full of smd components.

Is there anyone who can help me trace it and make a schematic and a pcb layout and a component list?

I have never done this before, I could trace a simple effect but I think this one is a bit more complicated.

All I can deliver is some close up gut shots.

Can you post guts? If it's crowded with SMDs, the through-hole clone will be bigger! And it's even more complicated if the stock PCB is double sided...

I did made a new PCB for a Laney LC15 which replaced all the SMDs, but it was quite spacy and single-sided...

Let's see?!
- Are you a mod or a rocker?
- Uh, no, I'm a mocker.

No, it's double-sided for sure. There are traces on both sides of the board.

Oh yeah exaclty, it has one of those blue leds behind the tube, looks fancy.

So what would be the procedure to convert this into a schematic and a new pcb + layout?

Looks like there is a lot of silicon in there for a so-called tube device...

The tube must be here to warm up the sound a bit...

I was quite amused when I noticed the same trick in my Behringer Tube Mic Pre........ it was all part due to the tube btw; other tubes lit up as they should!

This pedal is actually 2 times VOX Big Ben Overdrive only with a bass boost.

I thought already that the tube isn't really doing any huge overdrives here. There is way too much gain in thi pedal to come from a tube.

Here you can find the schematic for the Vox Big Ben Overdrive.
I've been told that the Vox Duel overdrive is basically twice the big ben.

That power supply is intense.... runs on 6v battery, and then gets regulated down to 3.3v, and then boosted back up to bipolar +/-6v.
Lots of tricks in this one!
