anyone seen a mono jack being used as switching jack...

All frequent questions on switching: true or not true bypass, transistor-based or mechanical.

Just notice my supa tonebender uses 2 mono jacks.

The ground travels through the 2 sleeve pins and someone has mutilated the contacts as such

As you can see if a jack is inserted the two contacts meet and the ground is connected. Crafty.... cheap bastards!!!. Doesn't look like the sturdiest connection but would probably work at a pinch if you were out of stereo jacks.

Someone must have seen this kind of thing before, but it was news to me.

From what I can tell, all of the Colorsound pedals used that sort of switching jack. I think it's just particular to that specific manufacturer.

My Colorsound wah pedal has the same exact jack, and I noticed that same peculiar feature. Never seen a jack like it before I acquired that...

ahhh now i see.

It was made like that. I thought someone had just bent the contacts of a normal mono jack. Interesting.

Yep, it was made like that. It's very unusual, isn't it?

I have a bunch except they're the opposite switcing arrangement, on when unplugged, off when plugged (the pictured one being on when plugged).
