i succeeded with Millenium 1.

RG wrote that LED might take 1/2 a second to turn on but it's quick enough that and i really don't notice any delay. if i haven't red the info i wouldn't know there could be a 'problem'

i can imagine that the theory he knows makes him expect the delay in the circuit and his brain switches into different perception of time where he's able to observe the diode coming into glow. that's why i like the man

only the resistor that's parallel to LED needs some tweaking to turn off the slight glow in the 'off' state. i used the simplest 3mm red LED, no hi-brite, no-nothing, and the 470 ohm resistor made it work properly, fully-off and fully on.

a larger resistor couldn't wipe the glow off and smaller ones just suck all the light in either state. i guess it depends on the LED.

i haven't had any luck with Millenium2. that just might be because i try to put it on those boards that have groups of three holes connected with copper. after many attempts to build various stuff on them i'm exhausted. i can understand now why everybody uses the boards with stripes.

Try this millenium 2, I've never had a problem with it.

hi ryanuk, i'll try to reply to your question but truly i'm just offering what i understand for correction on the forum.

the jFET does conduct with 0V on the gate which is the reason why Millenium 1 keeps the LED slightly glowing in the bypassed state. this may be the reason why Millenium 2 uses MOSFET. MOSFET are superficially simmilar to BJTs in that they need certain voltage on the gate to open.

the diode on the gate of all Millenium versions is to keep the current very low which is the reason why it doesn't pop on switching.

I have a problem with popping noise with the millenium 2 bypass with input signal shunt to ground.

I used that millenium version in my clone of the MXR CAE MC-401 booster:
(The millenium bypass runs at 9V, the opamp runs at 17V from the voltage doubler)

There´s a popping noise whenever the effect is switched on. It´s even louder, when it´s switched on for the first time shortly after the power supply was connected.
