Any idea what's going on inside this device?

WMD Devices have built these pedals stout and capable of very crazy sounds.
Oh they're bitchin' alright but the designer has protected his creation with goop. The Obsidian colored
lumps are as hard as Borosilicate (Pyrex). I'll eventually take this thing to task but still haven't fully
explored all the possibilities available in this off-the-chain FX.
I have his 'Fatman' pedal too. An Envelope Filter for any instrument.
Here's the pron:

Excuse the lack of photo skills. I'll re-take them when I get the time.

ignoring the goop annoyances, I like the way they've folded back the shielding before putting heat shrink over them, in order to avoid potential shorting of shield to centre.. I'm slapping my forehead (having never seen that before) wondering why I never thought of that myself. I have always cut the shield short and hope no strays get past, but leaving them long and folding back is a great idea :slap:

I'm really glad someone here has one of these pedals. They are unique in their own way, which I dig.

1 point off for PCB layout. What was used this time? MS paint?
Sorry. Plain out of planes.

Every minutes of the proguitarshop demo video make me laugh. That pedal looks like a pedal which met a coca-cola

(why buying that pedal ? Buy an analog synth that will do that sound better).

Anyway, that can be interesting to see what's inside .

PIC/AVRs etc. can come in 8 pin dip packages, like dual op amps. Or it could be that the input signal ramps through addresses in an EPROM containing wavetables.

The following design uses a vco to ramp through addresses, but it gives the general idea:

see also the Waveform City:

I understand that, Celadine, but why put goop all over it. What a waste!
Since it's all gooped up like that, you can be fairly sure it's copied, at least in part, from another design.

Yeah, its a waste of time, that gooping. [smilie=a_whyme.gif] Those little goops on the opamps are fun.

Is this true? Do other builders do this to pedals that are just a hot rodded so and so?

Some of them do it for this reason, yes.

The Jetter Gain Stage Red is a prime example.

probably a SMD IC on the other side. those little 8-pin DIPs can't drive the LED display with 14 elements
