You can pick up a new un modded one on ebay for £30 ($40) might be worth a go!
Cheers

that mod is simple: At the stage where dry and delayed signal are mixed you need to cut the dry signal.
I got a chance to test one and open it, There are some caps and resistors swap along
with the "leslie" mod. I got a chance to bypass a SCH1 too and compare them, believe it or not
the SCH1 is way better sounding. Lots of work to install the 3pdt at least for me.

Use a relais. The drilling of a 3PDT in there is poor lame fantasyless and should be limited to boohtweakers. Real engineers use better solutions for the same or better results.tomtom wrote: Lots of work to install the 3pdt at least for me.
Really, the fashion of drilling huge holes for a chunky switch (and if not possible saying "it cannot be done") that switch should be considered a serious crime. Lack of fantasy... sad.

boohtweakers? fantasyless? should i feel a sense deep core shame for drilling a hole in my ts9 re-issue and true bypassing it? maybe i should have used a relais?
Well, I think what Dirk is pointing is the pretentiousness of the 'Engineering Work Store' Name, given that they can't think of an elegant solution like the one he suggested. However, it is still very ugly on a TS-9
.
The Freestompboxes Forum search function is soo great, use the search function..., the S E A R C H function.

yes,i would agree with Dirk about their prestentiousness, especially that price!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey, while i'm here is there any info available on bypassing dod FX series effects?
i feel their old fx80b compressor is one of the most transparent, natural compressors i have ever owned, however when bypassed its not so hot. if i could true bypass it ,it would find a permanent place on my pedal board.
believe it or not,I compared it to a two knob keeley and maxon CP-101 re-issue,and it sounded the best to me.

use the stereo switch to break the connection where the dry signal is mixed with the delayed signal. That's all.
I did this mod some x times in SCH1's and are really waiting for a Z to come in again to a) determine the differences between a 1 and a z and b) to determine how to do that mod for a z.

- Take the schematic.
- Remove all components that connect to the switch.
- Rewire the switch so it will kill the dry signal going to the mixer stage where dry and wet signal are mixed.
(no, i'm not going to make a part for part writeup. It's just too easy)

And so, one night and a morning later,
A SCH-Z is (almost) the same as a SFC. The Fat Chorus that is.
Component numbering is the same, I expect the PCB layout to be the same too, based on the fact that R44 (0 ohm) is still there. Difference is that all transistors with exception of Q5 are replaced by FET's.

I have one of these that the chorus cuts out unless I put slight pressure on the rate knob. The solder joints appear fine but I am going to go over them and start there. In the event I need to try replacing the pot, can anyone point me to a part number for the Alpha pots that are used in these? I have been having a hard time trying to find them on Mouser, Allied, etc. Thank you.

THis could have been in the Stuff Seen For Sale section, but considering this thread, my guess is no one will ever buy a modded Arion by EWS...

How much for 3 knobs, a 3PDT, one decal and countless bullshit?

- Are you a mod or a rocker?
- Uh, no, I'm a mocker.
