You could try adding a 470p in parallel with the 2n2 capacitorThe only part I cant obtain is a 2n7 capacitor!! Could I sub a 2n2?

thanks again for this project Steve.. it continues to be my most and least favourite build at the same time.. finished populating a board tonight for our bassist and it was very quiet, and just had a slight oscillation sound, but not the chorus effect.. 3 of the tightest tracks had shorted, but were invisible to the naked eye.. she's a TIGHT build/intricate pcb.. but an absolute bundle of joy!

Hi guys, A friend asked me to build one for him and I based my PCB on tonepad's (redid it since I like to have the 3PDT built into the board for support).
It works fine but I have some questions:
Pedal sounds dark compared to no pedal at all, both on bypass and on effect. Could it be extra capacitance from the traces to the jacks? IS there a way to set it a bit "brighter"?
There is a little noise going on, especially if I start twisting the depth pot to the top, it starts a high pitched oscillation.. if I turn it all the way through it stops sounding. I tried this with different trim pot settings and there is always a point were it doesnt sound good anymore.
Question about the volume -> I saw in another post, substitute 10K resistor near the 4558b for added gain
I attach an image of my layout for reference. It follows more or less the one at Tonepad, a little arrangement to fir the board. Thanks for all your help, I love this forum!

seems the key is the 6.8k>10n in the feedback loop of the last stage...
correct me if i'm wrong: it is configured to tame a little bit the highs boost on the first stage... maybe because the n3007 section darkens the sound they boost at 2000-3000 before and cut after?
i'm spicing a bit to find the right conf...

Bajaman (or anyone ...) what would happen if I stuck a MN3008 in here instead? (Twice the # of BBD's) Something cool? Likely something not.
Just curious.

hello all. I ve tried the small clone with my active bass and i was amazed by the sound. But playing hard notes, leads to distortion. Sure i can turn down the volume on my bass, but i would like to increase the headroom of the small clone to 18v.(i have a 18v supply on my board) How can i mod it ? Is this possible ?
Thanks for help tyand

I just build it and it doesn´t matter how i turn the trimpot, I get no chorus.
I bought the mn3007 chip from a ebay seller "leemoom611". Has anybody ordered mn3007´s from them and can confirm they are fine?
Here are some voltages of the IC´s.

Is it normal that Pin1, 5 and 7 have voltages that goes from very low to higher?
I´m gonna check the pcb under the microscope tomorrow.
I have a normal guitar signal when i turn the the effect on....
I made some pix, maybe you can see a mistake?! I desoldered the trannies and socketed them, I also desoldered the trimpot and soldered it to a lil piece of vero (I wasen´t sure if the trimpot was ok)

I can´t edit my post, but here are the voltages of the trannies:
Q1 (next to lm358): CW --> C:0, B:0, E:0 CCW --> C:0, B: 8,53 E: 0
Q2 (next to cd4047) C: 8,17, B: 8,64, E: 8,72
Q3 C: 8,72, B: 4,92 E: 4,77
Hope this helps!

You got the 1n4148 in the wrong side. Maybe you could use to guide the tone pad's small clone.G5120fx wrote:anybody?
Cheers.
A photos of my last one.
I built a couple but in the moment that someone ear it, ask me for sell it.

Controls
Depth, rate and mix, switch-1, 150p/330p. Switch-2, 1uF/2,2uF.
Watch at the diode next to the cd4047
Mods, pulse led, mix and switches

please tell, how did you wire a MIX pot.

All about mods in this proyect is aviable in tonepad´s poyects small clone and CE 2.You must change the resistor coming from the BBds section to a pot wired like a variable resistor. Take a look over the tonepad proyect reports in the download page of the proyect.

I've been doing a bit of work on the Small Clone and compared the Tonepad schematic to an EHX schematic I found here: http://sites.google.com/site/electrocon ... ctoryE.pdf
There's a couple of differences:
The 10n cap that joins to pin 2 of the 4558 through the the 6k8 resistor has other end to ground in EHX schematic and 4.5V in the Tonepad
The 47n cap goes to ground from pin 3 of the LM358 in the EHX but from the rate pot in the Tonepad
Can anyone with a original unit help me confirm which is right?
Thanks!

....and some more pics of a recently built pedal using the OSH PARK boards - the black wire in the internal picture was added because I accidentally broke the trace from pin 1 of the LM358 to the depth pot.

The first difference won't matter - the "mid-rail" (the 4V5 line) is effectively grounded as far as audio is concerned because of the 10µF capacitor across the lower arm of the potential divider - that audio stage will work the same either way.plesur wrote:I've been doing a bit of work on the Small Clone and compared the Tonepad schematic to an EHX schematic I found here: http://sites.google.com/site/electrocon ... ctoryE.pdf
