hey, heres a schem of the required changes you need to make to get rid of the mud in a LBM.
simply, its just the NYC muff after these changes...minus the ferrite beads of course.
anyways, here ya go.
oh, btw, i done mine and it sounds great.

changes in DARK RED amount to 8 resistors and 3 capacitors.
i didnt bother with SMD parts as i couldnt get them today so i used 1/4 watt resistors and MKT 1uf caps.

SMD parts and several pots. So... this is the new re-issue LBM correct? Just trying to clarify for us old guys.

I may be wrong but nevertheless I have problems with the idea of increasing cap size so get rid of muddyness. Please clarify?
Sorry. Plain out of planes.

that was my thought too but now the above schematic, with the changes is exactly the same as the current NYC BMP and that aint muddy.
i dont know any technical reason for it but it works.
in comparison from a stock LBM to this, well, there is no comparison...its night and day and it sounds almost 100% to the current NYC BMP, a little different but that can be expected i spose but its the same schematic none the less.

Sure, heres the schem again.
The red is very dark, I need to re-do it so its clearer but you can work it out.
In all its 3 caps and 8 resistors that need swapping.

thank you so much!
(now the hard part is soldering the correct values on the board... :D!)

I opened mine and the values are a little diferent: my board (labeled EC-D2r-E) has C6 1uF, C7 2.2 uF, C8 2.2 uF (!), R16 120, R10 120, R8 22k and more
I think I have to redraw the circuit...
thank you

This is the Little Big Muff version EC-D2rE
BumbleBee, I used your layout adding the values I've found in mine, thank you!

BTW, mine sounded bad, dark and dead. I replaced C3, C5, C6, C7, C13 (all electros) with 0.1uF caps and C8 with a 10nF.
The pedal is now sparkly and alive and it's less compressed. I think I'll try replacing some of them with a higher value (maybe a 0.22uF, I want to find the right balance) however I like it much more than before.

Heres the stock XO LBM schem and the schem with the required changes again, in a clearer format.

The scheme I posted before is wrong.
Following Bumblebee's scheme and markings, I thought the tone cap to ground was 2.2uF, but I was wrong, it was indeed the third transistor output cap.
That said, I put a 10nF as output capcitor in place of the original 2.2uF. Big surprise: it sounds good, really good.
With my humbucker equipped strato the sounds (gain set high and tone at noon) is very close to Nirvana's "Breed" distorsion.
I think I'll leave it as is :)

So, am I correct in assuming that this Little Big Muff uses SMD components exclusively?

maybe OT, but how come there are so many broken images from photobucket on this site now? Do schems violate their terms??

It does indeed, but there are TO-92 transistors in it...
- Are you a mod or a rocker?

Hi Paul,

It's all SMD with the exception of the transistors (Fairchild BC550B's in my case), electros, and a polarity protection diode.

For reference, the PCB on my LBM is labelled EC-D2rE.

Ooo... so doing any mods on it would be pretty tricky. For me at least. :?

I was cleaning my room and found this pcb...thought I'd upload some pics for posterity...
This circuit was not my cup of tea
