Wanted: BS170's and J201's
- Jaicen
- Breadboard Brother
Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody here would be interested in trading me a few BS170 MOSFETS.
They seem a little harder to source in the UK than a lot of other stuff. I use 2N7000's normally, but it seems to be the consensus that the SHO sounds better with the BS170, so i'd like to try it. I'm also intersted in some J201's, as again, they seem really difficult to get hold of here.

You can get all the parts you could ever want, with cheap shipping from http://www.rapidonline.com. Their range is huge and their prices are sensible. They also sell diecast boxes cheaply.Jaicen wrote:Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody here would be interested in trading me a few BS170 MOSFETS.

I wouldn't use a J201 for audio anyway - it's an RF device, and is pretty noisy at audio frequencies!marmaliser wrote:Except for J201's it seams "Unfortunately we have not found any results for j201"mictester wrote:You can get all the parts you could ever want, with cheap shipping from http://www.rapidonline.com. You can use something like a 2n5457 instead of the j201 I reckon. 3p each at rapid right now.
Rapid you need to spend £30 to get free next day however, or its £5 shipping.
Regards the BS170, there are a few places which have them, such as Dr Tweek http://www.doctortweek.co.uk/shop/artic ... d%3D249%26
or Bits Box http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/transistors.html
Bits box is typically next day, flat rate. cheaper than Tweek too, for both part and shipping. Tweek is great too though.
If you just want one to try, let me know. I dont have the j201 tho, used them all in a Dr Boogie
