This circuit is a voltage gain amp like MXR microamp, see the ground signal next to the first 1uf cap, it's not a differential preamp, if you intend to use this as a internal booster maybe it work, but we have much better optional circuits like EMG PA, tillman, tens of jfet and mosfet boosters.

Nice! Did you try it already?
Going to a SOIC opamp could shrink this down even further (and is still somewhat possible to handsolder).

I have a few questions.
how we can modify the circuit to produce different sounds, such as the single-coil? The coils are connected in parallel, so it's not quite humbucker. What sound we get using the stack-humbucker(humcanceller)?

If you want to use the emg circuit that is a basic differential preamp the "Secret" to achieve a more single coilish tone is to use unbalanced input gains, eg: 5db in the non inverting input and 8db in the inverting input. The more unbalanced is this relation more noisy, trebly and single coilish would be the tone.
But you have to know that this activated pickup will never sound exactly like a single or real humbucker. I tried it with a dimarzio Virtual Vintage solo and it sound great but nothing about real single coil.

I have one on my guitar JB / seymour jazz kit
I read that Seymour Duncan Livewire Dave Mustaine Active is the same kit that only active, most found nothing about
Anyone know of some schemematic?

I do not know how true this is , but there is a scheme for single-coils

Is this what you mean?
It's ok. It works but all emg pickups are dual coil staked or humbucker design.

It is the same circuit with a tone shaper.

I will try to explain what I mean. For example, I'll use a preamp with hum canceling pickup (stack-humbuckers). It will sound like blackout humbucker. Because the preamp is not configured to sound like a single-Coil

On the other hand, EMG s/sa have preamplifier configured differently. And it will not sound like a humbucker, even if the coils are arranged horizontally

Active pickups are always actiive humbukers. I like the way that they sound but you will never get the classic tone with those, they are silent and they have a perfect tone, I think that they are excessive perfect.

Yes, I Agree that, active pickups are perfect. And better than passive hambuckers. but Emg sa and standart emg humbukers has diferent frequency response

hi folks
last days some customer send me a fake EMG pickups(chinese versions of 81 and 85 models),that really sound very bad ,a microphonic noise issue .and tell me that do some magic with this pieces of s....., ok i will try but i don`t made miracles.
let`s open those units ,with my mototool y cut very carefully the black epoxy resin and find this:

and see ,looks like new version of the preamp. maybe the real EMG circuit?or maybe chinese mod?
the most particular think, the big rectagle with the center hole and 470k resistor marked as RX .for what purpose? this rectangle fits exactly with the magnet .let me do some wire schematics

rcustoms, can you measure the capacitors and the resistance of the coils?
