Hi all i have had this board for quite a while now and not really done anything with it so i thougt i would share it with the world :). It a slight copy of the Clyde McCoy wah and the only difference is, is the Ge transistors are silicon and the layout is my own.

Here is a schematic.
https://s298.photobucket.com/albums/mm2 ... atic-1.gif

As you can see i have placed extra copper taces for your own sized inductor. With this you can drill your own holes.

With this build i would recommend getting yourself a 520Mh inductor for that real classic sound everyone thrives to achieve.

If you have any questions what so ever please reply to this post.

Thanks very much and enjoy.

Hi

Thanks fort the files :)

But one thing bothers me... When you say GE in below
difference is, is the Ge transistors are silicon
...do you mean germanium transistors?

There was no germanium transistors in WAHWAH's AFAIK

2N2925, 2N5172 , BC109, BC173, BC239B, 2SC828, MPSA18, 2N2222, 2N3904, 2N5088/9, BC108B/C, BC550... those are Q's used in some vintage and modern wahs and non of them are germanium

Sorry my mistake! I had that many circuits going round my head that i thought it had Germanium tranies in it.... Silly me!

Overall what did you think of the design? I mean have you tried it or just had a quick look??

I will have to gather some more detailed information to post because really what i have here is all good but not everyone will know where the pot is used and where to put the switch! If you have anything else to share in respects to this post, i would be grateful for your time to expand my project!

I noticed when using this pedal that there was a very horrible bite during the sweep of the pot and that there was a small pop when the pedal was switched on.
I assume that i would need a small resistor going to ground from the switch.

If anyone has any buffer or wah schematics or images, it would be nice to share.

Thanks for pointing this out! Always appreciated :)

I have been analysing my circuit and noticed that some of it is completely wrong! So.. I have fixed this problem and am going to share it with you all :)

So there you have it!
I was looking around because a while ago my old boss told me he couldn't find a wah that gives him the same sweep as his does (early grey wah). I didnt know much about electronics so i didnt understand why, but, i looked at a thread of "sinners" and he has given the very old boutique style layout and all the component parts ready to build. Here is the link if you are interested?

https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic ... +prototype

I find this thread very fascinating and cant wait to build.
Hope the layout helps, and have a very nice day

Thanks again

Hi k1rkyd :) It makes me feel good that my layout inspired you to do that :)

I see no component layout here, but...

...the gray wah is basically the same thing that mccoy's, the only difference is extra 100k resistor between inductor outs, and 250mH inductor (in gray one) instead of 500mH. You can easily make it on standard wah board dropping 100k (omitted, not jumpered) and changing this inductor value. There is some transistor changes as well, but overall layout is the same :)

You can find mccoy layout based on gray wah parts placement on the page 2 of the tread you've linked

It doesn't change the thing that is awesome to see it posted here, it's great to see members who put something into the community! :)

This and the other layout is unverified (by me - no one else reported back since I've post it on), but matched to schemos on the web it should work, so I hope yours work as well :)

Good job :thumbsup

Here is the board layout and values! The inductor i'm going to get from small bear electronics, but what gauge wire should i use?
I really cant wait to build a replica if the early greay wah.

Thanks again sinner

Sorry people this the correct board and the only difference is, the 4.7uF capacitor was missing so all you have to do is add a 4.7uF electrolytic cap where the board has no component.

Again i'm really sorry.
Thanks

Gray (Grey, Greay - what the correct spelling is? ) have 4uF bipolar instead of 4,7uF polarized 8)

Ahhh yes thats correct i remember!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure where abouts your from but your english is absolutely brilliant! You can type as well as speak fluent english and string words together in the correct way. Kudos to you my friend.
I have a question, were can i get the mustard style capacitors for cheap? I ask this because i cant really afford to pay all the postage charges on every different individual i buy them from!

I have got up to now; Resistors, pair of transistors (2n3707) and i bought 2 thomas organ 250uH inductors from the thomas organ company.
Any suggestions?

Anyhow cheers for now i'll speak soon :)

 I'm a Polish guy who can make an use from free education system ;) ...but I still dont know how to spell the thing :D

I'm not sure why you're going into mustard caps in this build?

I see no mustard caps in those internal photos I have, but I see other big yellow 0,22uF caps there... Iskras???

AFAIK Roederstein's are modern replacement for old Iskras if you like to go soundwise...

The others are 0,01uF Styroflex's... This is what is in the original thing.

My only source for mustards is evilbay, but usable values are both expensive and hard to find, so I've stopped to give a f*** ;) The only thing I've used mustards recently is my Marshall Supa Fuzz dead on replica, and I've paid an arm and a leg for mine
and i bought 2 thomas organ 250uH inductors from the thomas organ company
I have to try it myself :) But as far as I know life, they do not ship to here

Sinner man, How you doing?

I have had a look on Ebay for these things but cant find what i'm looking for!
I'm not sure if you know anywhere that sells these cheap but i really would love to finish my build!
The only difference i have in my build, is that im using Metal Film resistors instead of the old carbon comp.
I'm not too bothered about what resistors i use because i think personally the first thing you look at is the big old caps and that holy inductor smack bang in the middle.

I dont want to buy anything from smallbearelec.com because i dont like how the website works.
Any other alternatives?

Speak soon bud

Hi buddy, I'm doing just fine :)

PM me your address and I'll post you nice set of the caps including 4uF BP and the rest. I have some mojo looking small styroflexes, and Roedie's... Maybe I'll able to find some carbon films (this is what you can find in gray wah, not that noisy as CC, but still noisier than MF's)

Cheers
Pawel

Hi sinner i have something to tell you :D
I'm ordering the inductors from the organservices.com website. I have e-mailed them and they replied with the prices etc.
I will be ordering the parts on monday and i'm not sure when i will be recieving them. As soon as they arrive i will send you one if you PM your address etc. Apparently they come in a brown casing and have two legs coming from the bottom Fasel style i think.

Well speak soon

Hi sinner :applause:

How does your early grey wah clone sound from the origional? :hmmm:
I have tried emailing the organ company all day and the have been emailing me back with silly emails!
I'll try again on monday and see what they have to say then.

Speak soon buddy
