Night Train, a bluesy overdrive

Here's the project based on Arsenio's TubeSoundOverdrive circuit.
I decided to give it a name, that some time ago my friend came up with, a good name for mid gain, very "ampy" and touch sensitive pedal
So, here it is:

During the tweaks and breadboarding i recorded a clip with soft scope (visual analyser) showing how is the waveform and frequency spectrum changing according to the input signal amplitude. Unfortunately due to high compression level at youtube the quality is poor.


And last, but not least here's the 3D model of the pedal with graphics i designed some time ago for another, finally abandonned project.

I'm working on a simpler version with only 1 or 2 knobs. I'll post it as soon as i finish it.

I have no idea:) My friend came up with this name.
Although the country i come from has a very long tradition in prodution of cheap wine ;) and of course in naming the products, like, directly translated: "The blood of the village administrator", or simply "220V" :)

Night Train Express
17.5% alc. by vol.

Don't let the 0.5% less alcohol by volume fool you, the Night Train is all business when it pulls into the station. All aboard to nowhere - woo wooo! The night train runs only one route: sober to stupid with no roundtrip tickets available, and a strong liklihood of a train wreck along the way. This trainyard favorite is vinted and bottled by E&J Gallo Winery, in in Modesto, CA. Don't bother looking on their web page, because they dare not mention it there. As a clever disguise, the label says that it is made by "Night Train Limited." Some suspect that Night Train is really just Thunderbird with some Kool-Aid-like substance added to try to mask the Clorox flavor. Some of our researchers indicated that it gave them a NyQuil-like drowsiness, and perhaps this is why they put "night" in the name. The picture (above right) shows that the subject that drank Night Train is down for the count, while the Cisco guzzling subject is ready to rock. Guaranteed to tickle your innards.

Just built this pedal for myself. Sounds great with single coils!
I had only double sided pcb, so the top layer is used for jumpers and as a screening ground plane.
There are some changes in the schematic, here's the final one:

If you are bored with 1000s variations of the TS OD i think you shoud try this one.

Here's a sound sample. Recorded using software VST speaker simulation (impulse convolver, ENGL 412 cab) with a touch of reverb. I tried to show how does the pedal react to different pickups, volume knob, different playing like open chords or single notes, palm muting etc. There's also a fragment with wah in front of the pedal.
