DONT buy cheap switches!!

OK, so I'm modding 2 GCB 95s(rev H) with a view to selling them on ebay.
I've got them all sprayed up gloss red and black and they look amazing
Now onto to the basic mods.
I figure I'll true bypass them with a DPDT, change a few resistors with a lot of old CC's that I have lying around
specifically the vocal mod to 68K, gain/bass to 330ohm and volume to 47k.
Was going to change the sweep cap to 0.022 and perhaps change out the transistors to 2N5172s.
Anyway, got started, all going well. Finished the true bypass, something I've done 20 times before.
The "wah" bit works perfect but there is no sound happening when the wah is not engaged. I checked the wires and soldering
again and it looks perfect. Then I check the other pedal which I was building at the same time.
The same thing, no volume when switched off but works when engaged.
I go thru everything methodically and still nothing happening and resolder some of the connections. Now one of the pedals does
not work at all
I also noticed as I was soldering that some of the connections on the DPDT were melting slightly and almost falling off.
Now I'm not the best solderer in the world but I've done this kind of stuff a lot and I wasnt hanging around at the switch with the iron.
I changed out the switches with 2 new ones and still all the same problems. I noticed then that if I pushed down on parts of the DPDT
I would occasionally get sound but it was intermittent, aaaaaargh!! The problem couldnt be the switches??
These switches were brand new so I then decided to use a decent old 3PDT I had lying around.
Perfect, worked first time..
SO, the moral of the story. DONT buy cheap ass DPDTs. I had 4 fail on me, never again. Got them from effectsconnection.
Never had a problem before with them. Really want to mail them about it but cant access the site at the moment.
Going to get a batch of decent 3PDTs and just pay the money. Worth it especially if you're selling stuff.
Now back to the wahing board...
