Pretty nice build quality in there. A step above a lot of other junk you see.

Yep..
Nice work with the pics too..
I believe it's a version of the Coloursound Overdriver.

I'm curious... What was the problem with the pedal? (That it needed repair)

They are always in the signal path and might filter out some frequencies (resistor + capacitance of the cables = high pass filter).

I also got a joyride in for repair...looks like the 3pdt switch too. Going by sevenisthenumber's pictures and the stompbox I have, I think I've got a schematic worked out. If anybody wants to verify it or sees something wrong with it feel free to correct me. It does indeed look like a coloursound overdriver with a few cap values switched.

I included a 1n4001 and input filter cap which isn't present on the actual Joyride I have in front of me. I am wondering about C1 in the schematic, it's the 22uF cap, and the polarity looks a little weird to me but that's what the layout is on the actual PCB. The goop is still on this Joyride but most of the component values weren't even covered by it....lot of trouble for nothing. Does anybody know why the LED has the goop all over it? Why hide that?

I also realized after posting this that the Volume Pot value and the Drive Pot value are switched, the Drive pot should be a 10kB pot, and the volume should be a 100kB pot. Sorry about that.

Anyway, without further ado:

I've always thought of gooper's as rank amateurs. I'm surprised that Fred does this to his pedals, he should be proud to show off his skills.
I have an LDW 17/39, it reminds me of a second hand Marshall that my brother used to play ... only it doesn't eat tubes.

This isn't goop to hide components or values..
this is some (misconstrued ?) effort to stabilise or something.

:hmmm: At least he hasn't gone completely Ken Fischer (RIP) ... with the red coated wire gris-gris silliness.
If I ever sniff synthetic cork I'll build a faraday cage around every circuit board.

Other than the stabilizing goop, this seems like a pretty good build. Fred does nice work. Anybody see anything weird in the schematic? I'm gonna build this if I can, I've never gotten a chance to play a coloursound.

Bump!

I'm looking into building this, but I think there is something wrong with C3 in the Joyride schematic posted above. Any help?

Yeah, according to the Colorsound Overdriver schematic (the pedal this box is a 99% clone of) has that 22uF Electro going to ground instead.

it's the same thing as going to ground as far as AC is concerned. but it still doesn't make much sense to me, as it looks like it would shunt basically the whole AC signal to ground. it can't be right, not to mention that there is no cap there in the CSOD schem.
