Language barriers.
Different cultures..

this place has a very International mix.. and you'll find that not everyone talks in the same lingo as your family and friends.

still it didnt make any sense at all. and we are living in the same country though. sigh.

i am also ashamed... not just a DIYer but as a filipino.... he didnt acted well..... i think to stop everything he should stop.... stop fooling himself and the people....

i made 3 clone crunchboxes for my self and a friend and at the end a great pedal is just made like mine for the sake of money.... tsk tsk tsk..... what a shame..... :(
i dont get your point man. why drag your citizenship on this????

anyway, maybe the gutshot posted is an old version of his, hopefully markv is now replacing and using his own design or maybe markv only copied the pcb parts placement from madbean and not the actual pcb traces....

Huh..
Why would anyone copy parts placement if they didn't copy the traces ?
I'm sure you already know the answers to the questions you pose.

This has been a VERY weird thread.. cloak and dagger, MarkV's supporters and knockers all playing games with each other..
Crazy.

It is what it is.. a simple gutshot of a simple circuit.. cloned and tweaked.

i often do that! i dont sell pedals though so no issue. i mean, sometimes the parts placement are good but the tracing isnt. and i would like to practice my eaglecad skills also. hehe

Sorry .. I can see no logic in that..
Parts placement and trace placement go hand in hand.. if you're going to make your own layout, why would you lock yourself into an existing parts layout when there's no reason to ?

What makes a good parts layout anyway ?
One that allows good trace layout..
The traces are what matters most, and should dictate where the parts end up, not the other way around.

:block:

Now.. having a look at the parts layout below.. can you tell me what's great about it, and why you'd want to keep them exactly the same if you were going to re-design the board.

i 100% agree with you on the traces and parts layout going hand in hand. that is why parts which are connected to each other are placed as close as possible to each other.

but i didnt say i fix/locked the parts in place when i do my tracing while using other's parts layout. of course i move them a bit when required. basically what i do is copper utilization improvement. I minimize thosed areas that i need to etch off. I do that 'ground fill' thing. :)

I cant agrue whether using others parts placement and then doing my own layout is logical or not. I just said I'm doing it. logical or not, i dont know.

anyway, i actually have nothing to do with the seller of the pedal. Just trying to put my two cents in the thread.

And sorry for dragging the thread off-topic.

If so, then that's cool-and-the-gang.

If not, it's kinda douchey.
given Madbeans quality level of PCBs, I don't think the board in the OP is one made by the bean. dude just probably used the layout in the pdf. file.
