Good place to buy parts in Chicago?

Looking for a particular component or hardware part and you just cannot find it? Got comoonents surplus and want to get rid of it? Post it all here... No sales of working pedals, put these in the 'Seen for sale' section please.

triode is in chicago. specifically 5600 w. irving park rd. they have lots of caps and such, good for amp stuff. many vintage axials and the like, orange drops, etc. you won't find your modern little box caps there though. enclosures are kind of expensive, and they only have one size- large. a bit bigger than a BB, looks like a big 1290. unfortunately, it's the only place in town i've found.

Fry's in Downers Grove has an ok selection, I would check online or call before driving out from Chicago. Another place I go is Chester Electronic Supply in Kenosha. Neither place is in Chicago, but they are the only places I know in the area other than Rat Shack.

Ok, thanks! I'll check the above mentioned. I'm looking for some plastic case rotary switches to finish my Meatball (I need it!... I need it!) and one TS808 w/switcheable caps and diodes for my cuasi son in law :horsey:

If you're going to Triode, drive a little further north to the Jefferson Park area and stop into American Science and Surplus. They mostly have odds and ends, some pots, switches and resistors. However, I dare you to have a bad time at that store.

Thanks marmora... sounds a little creepy, uh? :D
I'm not in the city and I'm trying to find a place to send (and save some shipping) a close relative that is only for hollydays there.

that's where i grew up! i always stop over at chester's when i go home to see the folks. great store, too bad it's about an hour from the city. they have really nice vero there, and just about every other little electronics accessories you might need. feels good to buy local, too. you should have seen the phone ringing off the hook at that place when they switched from analog to digital tv around these parts! it never stopped the whole time i was there. poor bastards!
